2008: Dance4Life Kenya gains and keeps the momentum

The year 2008 was very significant in the growth of dance4life Kenya. It was very exciting to work with over 50 schools in Nairobi and Coast Provinces. A total of 5000 AoC were created and over 7500 young people were reached with dance4life activities directly.

dance4life Kenya partnered with the World Starts With Me (WSWM) curriculum in its skills4life component. WSWM addresses knowledge and skills on sexuality, computer usage and life skills.

dance4Life participated and performed the drill before 2000 delegates during this years' 3rd National Organization of Peer Educators Conference. It was performed by 80 youth from 27 youth serving organizations from the YPEER Network

The Ministry of Education gave the dance4life programme a seal of approval and has been instrumental in facilitating dance4life in schools.

Even more exciting was the warm reception to the act4life component as students organized inter-school activities such as debates and discussions on HIV/AIDS and Sexuality. On Saturday 11th October, all participating schools held a simultaneous exhibition in Nairobi and Coast provinces. During the powerful exhibition they showcased the skills and knowledge they acquired from both the dance4life programme as well as the WSWM programme. There was a display of dance, music, drama, art and poetry and the winners in different categories were rewarded.

The year came to close in a big way with over 2500 agents of change attending the thematic dance4life event on November 29th. performances at the event were various displays by the AOCs on what activities they have been doing under the act4life component. There were also performances by guest artistes.

The event concluded with the live satellite link which united AOCs in Kenya with their peers in 18 other countries, as they united to celebrate life and create a visible platform dancing4life.
